We honor those lost in and around Lida, Belarus and work to keep the Lida spirit alive and strong for many generations to come

It is with deep sadness that the Lida Foundation announces the passing of David Rumschitzki. David was an active member of the foundation throughout his life, a true mensch, and he will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and students through this difficult time. May his memory be a blessing.

WELCOMING YOU HOME

Welcome to the homepage of the Lida Holocaust Memorial Foundation. We thank you for visiting our website and giving us the opportunity to share our history with you. Our organization was founded over 50 years ago by survivors of World War ll from the Lida area in modern day Belarus (then Poland) many of whom who were rescued by the Bielski Brothers portrayed in the movie Defiance.

The foundation aims to both cherish the memories of all those who have been lost in Lida and neighboring communities as well as commemorate all those who survived - with the hope of keeping the Lida spirit alive for generations to come. Our fundraising efforts support a vast number of causes including gravesite maintenance, Holocaust awareness/education events, memorial services and much more.

Throughout our website you will find a community forever united by our past and still connected to one another. We remain committed to educating future generations as well as reconnecting with those who share our history. Here the Lida spirit lives on!

We invite you to travel throughout this site where you will read stories of survival, see pictures of the past and present, news, and much more. On behalf of the entire community pat and present, thank you for visiting.
