We Remember Them...
(Audience recites lines in bold together with reader)

In the rising of the sun and in its going down,
WE REMEMBER THEM

The blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter,
WE REMEMBER THEM

In the openening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring,
WE REMEMBER THEM

In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of Summer,
WE REMEMBER THEM

In the rustling of leaves and in the beauty of Autumn,
WE REMEMBER THEM

In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
WE REMEMBER THEM

When we are weary and in need of strength,
WE REMEMBER THEM

When we are lost and sick at heart,
WE REMEMBER THEM

When we have joys we yearn to share,
WE REMEMBER THEM

So long as we live, they shall live, for they are now a part of us,
AS WE REMEMBER THEM.

Eli Ma-Lei Ra-Cha-Mim
English Translation of a Hebrew prayer

God, full of compassion, Thou who dwellest on high. Beneath the sheltering wings of thy presense, among the holy and pure who shine as the stars in the sky, grant perfect rest unto the souls of our dear ones who have gone unto eternity.

Lord of mercy, bring them under cover of they wings and let their woulds be bound up in the bond of eternal life, and may they rest in peace.

Amen.

A Poem of Rememberance

Alas for those who cannot sing and die with all their music in them.
Let us treasure the time we have and resolve to use it well, counting each moment precious.

A chance to apprehend some truth, to experience some beauty, to conquer some evil, to relieve some suffering. To love and be loved, to achieve something of lasting worth.

Eternity exists because there is memory. Wherever deeds are recalled and the intensity of life is heightened... we become aware of the immense worth of a single soul.

If we walk in the steps trod by others, if we grow in the sunlight of men, women and children who once planned and dreamed... memory becomes the invisible corridor joining Past, Present and Future.

We record their names in sacred places... We recall our loved ones by day, by night and in hallowed moments... Through memory we unite ourselves, once more with them as a people.

O Lord of Life, Bless the memories we cherish. May the sorrows we have known be softened by our sense of your infinite wisdom, your unending love and your eternal presence... May the pains of past bereavements grow more gentle. Let them be transformed into gratitude to our dear ones who have died and tenderness to those who are still with US.

There Are Stars
Hanna Senesh Poem

There are stars whose radiance is visible on earth though they have been extinct.

There are people whose brilliance continues to light the world though they are no longer among the living.

These lights are particularly bright when the night is dark.

They light the way for mankind.

***********

TODAY, we remember all of those lost to us and the Jewish people whose yearning for freedom and whose acts of Jewish self-determination will always "light the way for mankind."
